Holy Crap

Archbishop Muntz is a firebrand cleric with zero filter, dwindling influence, and a God complex in free-fall. Desperate to revive his base, he hits the road in a stretch limo with three millennial spin doctors and a gospel of alternative facts. What follows is part sermon and part sideshow – a political parody where the miracles are fake, but the fallout is real.
Religion. Rebranded.

Holy Crap is a dark comedy about three millennials tasked with saving the soul – or at least the social media profile – of Australia’s least qualified Archbishop. Crippled by debt and blinded by optimism, Mia Potter takes a job photographing Archbishop Muntz, a politically incorrect cleric with a crumbling public image and a deep love of likes.

She’s joined on her adventures by Julian Brockhurst, the Archbishop’s dim-witted nephew cum chief of staff, and Colin Chen, a pedantic manservant who’s equal parts caterer, chemist and confidante.

With the odds stacked against them they unite behind the embattled Archbishop; boldly going where they’re not necessarily wanted and taking his unique brand of indifference and tough love to the masses. Or as many of the masses as they can convince to meet with him.

From climate change and foreign ownership to sexuality, diversity and faith, Holy Crap offers a satirical deep dive into modern Australian culture. It’s a world where optics beat ethics, confessionals happen online, and the line between faith and farce is wafer-thin.

Holy Crap celebrates all that’s wrong with social media and the clash in ideals between a progressive young woman out to force change and a self-absorbed cleric defending a way of life that was laid down in stone 700 years earlier.

It’s a comedy about influence – who has it, who wants it, and who’s willing to sell their soul for a shareable moment.
