Some of the most beautiful things human beings have ever created are sitting in private vaults and galleries, kept for status rather than love, by people who answer to no one for any of it. Hunt + Gather is about a gang of idealists who break into one of those galleries to set the art free and discover its owner collects more than just paintings.
They call themselves The Feral Cats, and they’re not just thieves. They’re a subversive art movement: exposing collectors, photographing hidden masterpieces, and flooding the internet with proof that beauty doesn’t belong behind locked doors.
The series opens on their most ambitious job yet, inside a brutalist gallery, buried five levels down. But from the moment they’re inside, nothing is as expected. The security’s too tight. The rooms feel curated. And then one of them dies – killed by the art itself.
What begins as a heist turns into a vicious night of survival. As the traps escalate and the trust drains away, the crew’s ideals fracture along with their nerve, and they learn that the deadliest thing in the building isn’t the art, or even the hunter. It’s what fear does to a group of strangers who were only just starting to feel like a family.
At its core, Hunt + Gather asks a simple question: what happens when rebellion becomes just another curated exhibit?
On the surface, it’s a show about art – what counts as it, who gets to own it, and who it’s really for. But underneath the satire, runs a colder truth: the sense that the very rich have drifted so far beyond consequence that nothing, and no one, can reach them.
The Feral Cats believe they’re striking from outside that world. But the night reveals there is no outside. What begins as a mission to liberate art becomes a brutal reckoning, exposing how even rebellion can be commodified, repackaged and sold back to the system it set out to expose.
